Who is the source of information on number-2's "with a 10 percent annual increase in participation during the previous 3 years?"

Is that a sub-stat from the 2008 National Sporting Goods Manufacturer's Association stat that shows skateboarding to be the winner of the "10-year winner in U.S. participation growth?" Skateboarding's "74.1 percent growth" over 10 years (1998-2008) is always a killer point to make during presentations.

Do you know if the NSGMA puts out any kind of "annual" stats on sports participation. Being halfway thru 2010, it's always great to have the most recent numbers.

That's precisely where those statistics come from...and I believe that's the right year.

Unfortunately the reports are prohibitively expensive for SPS' budget. I think that was the only year we paid for. More recent statistics were "anecdotal", (if you catch my meaning).

We would do some fundraising and purchase the reports annually but they lack the fidelity that we'd like to see. They're mostly dialed in for manufacturers, distributors and retailers to make better business decisions.

Lately the reports haven't indicated compelling growth numbers. It looks like skating is flattening a little bit. (There are still a bazillion skaters out there...but the growth isn't as strong.)
