Incredibly sad story, and then to see the opponents of the park pile on with their ignorant comments is sickening.

Re: Randy Stang- Skatepark Advocate RIP
Thanks for posting Andy. That is a sad story, but what is more sad is the comments by those heathens.
Wow!
Wow!
Miguel is right... the majority is against it. It is true that skaters tend to smoke more pot than basketball players.
Not saying that Randy speaking up for what is he believes in is wrong, but he was easily in the minority on this issue.
This park needs 8 high def cameras on 24/7, with heat sensors and constant late night patrols.
The only way to honor Randy is to make sure the park is safe... but the truth is that real estate prices just took a 10% hit to any home that surrounds the park where as a kid I played baseball.

As shitty and rude as some of those comments are, those people would never show up at a meeting and say this

I thought they were pretty tame. Certainly more people defending the idea of a skatepark and opposing the usual stereotypes that seem to come up when anyone mentions skateboarding.
I actually kind of like some of the nonsense that people say about us. Like, yeah...you're ... right! I AM a dangerous, dangerous man. I'll corrupt your boys and deflower your daughters. I'll get your granny hooked on pot! I'll pee in your bushes and break into your house just to quench my thirst. I'll scare your dog and walk across your grass...because I'M A SKATER and THAT'S WHAT SKATERS DO!
If we put skateparks only in places that everyone could agree on we'd have to skate, umm ...

Dude,
You'd never get permission to build a park on the moon without someone complaining...
The story of Randy is just heart-wrenching. A friend in Bay said that he was just the most unreal guy and was just a pleasure to meet. So sad...

A salesman tells skaters what they want, a designer asks...
