Thank you. I think I have done that. I am the Michigan sales rep for Solo skate park equipment. My screen name is DEDREC. I have already posted on a few forums.

Yes. I know, but you forgot to put that in this profile, so it lead me to believe you may represent multiple skatepark equipment companies.

Regardless we will list Solo as your company.

Ok I am sorry I did not understand. Thank you. Solo and Freshpark are the only compines I represent.
Deal with it. (I am no longer a Solo sales rep. I do not know why it still says I am. I have removed that from my profile.)

Welcome to SPS, Brett. What kind of design work do you do?

You've come to the right place to launch your local skatepark effort. Getting local assistance will come in time but you may not immediately need it. If I were in your shoes, I'd start with a kind of inventory of activity in your area. You're certainly in a unique environment...being in a community with such strong ties to surfing and skateboarding culture as well as having lots of skateparks around you.

Anyway, your inventory will require an investigation into the individuals key to the other nearby skatepark developments. Even if they're over it and have moved on to other things, they may be able to provide some insight into the unique challenges they encountered. (Location and Money will always be your two biggest challenges...but California has its own peculiar way of treating skaters.)

Poke around SPS, especially the skatepark development section that you can get to from the front page. It will walk you through the whole process.

Also, post up in the Southwest forum and talk about where you want your project to go. That's where you're likely to find other people active in your area.

Thank's for the welcome. At the moment all we have here is a tennis court with those metal frame pre-fab things we are supposed to call ramps, and boxes. Which the township does not maintain because they want the tennis courts back I am guessing. I do not frequent this "park" not only because of the condition of the place itself, but because of the fact of overcrowding. It cant be more than 150'x150'. Mostly BMX riders. Not that I have anything against bmx, but I can do with out them. So I built a mini in my yard, but it doesnt satisfy my hunger all the time, hehe.

Welcome, Brian. I'm from NJ, originally. You have what sounds like a 'cure for skateboarding' park in Bricktown. Do you ever hit Sayreville, or any other good parks in the tri state area? We've got a lot in the works around here.

Hi, and thanks Bill. No, I haven't hit the Sayerville park, mainly due to being busy with work. Now that I have some time on my hands, being un-employed, maybe I will hit it up.
I am not really aware of any other decent parks, aside from the one in Long Branch. Ultimately I would like to have one here in Brick, I am just not sure I would be able to drum up the support. It seems bike/scooter are the "in" things these day's........scooter's? really? anyway If I do in fact begin to advocate for a public park here, I fear it will be a long hard road, resulting in a park that will probably be geared more for bmx, since they seem to be the majority around here.
Any advice/input/thoughts, or should I create a new thread in the advocacy forum and go from there? Or is it even worth it to continue? It just seems like an impossible task at this point. It'skind of discouraging, and even somewhat sad, lol.

Ok, thanks again to both you, and Bill. I guess i am about to take my first step toward what could be both a really positive addition to my community, as well as the bane of my existence.;)

Hello Bri,

Welcome aboard. I received a call today from Mays Landing, NJ. I am not sure where that is, but I sent them a 'Skatepark Development Guide'.

New Jersey has a long skate history and lots of talent. I wish you the best of luck!!!
