The Fourth Annual Skaters for Public Skateparks Summit is right around the corner!
Saturday, May 17
10:00 AM — 1:00 PM
(extended sessions forthcoming)
Ashburn Library, Virginia
We'll be convening this year near Washington D.C. for a day of skatepark discussion. If you're interested in skatepark development, have a skatepark, or are just curious about what makes skateparks work—and what doesn't—you can't miss this event.
The nation's most successful skatepark advocates, visionaries and designers will be on-hand to participate in discussions on a wide variety of topics:
• Anti-Skateboarding Ordinances: Why they work, why they don't.
• The Precast Connection: What it means for the future of skate spaces.
• The Power of Skate-Spots
• Jargon Watch: How marketers seek authenticity through language and lingo
• Cost-saving Opportunities in Skatepark Development
• Green Skateparks: How Green Skate Lab set the high-water mark
We will also be hearing from some of the nation's most successful skatepark design and building companies about trends and ideas for improving today's skateparks. Like every SPS Summit there will certainly be some surprises too.
SPS Volunteers will meet again on Sunday for a half-day of internal business. We will go over '08-09 projects, changes within SPS, and goals for the year.
